Bitcoin hit a one-year low following a new wave of selling that hit the crypto sector hard, fuelled by uncertainty in global markets.
The triggering event appears to be related to the recent news that international financial markets are being shaken by growing uncertainty caused by new trade policies announced by US President Donald Trump. The threat of new tariffs has created a general state of distrust, prompting institutional and retail investors to liquidate risky positions, including digital assets such as Bitcoin.
This caused a domino effect, dragging the entire crypto sector down with it. Ethereum and other major altcoins followed the downward trajectory, highlighting the increasingly close correlation between crypto and traditional financial markets. The collapse surprised many investors who, until recently, considered Bitcoin a possible safe haven asset, isolated from the dynamics of traditional exchanges.
At the same time, the phenomenon of capital flight from Bitcoin-related ETFs has intensified. According to the latest findings, cryptocurrency-based ETFs lost over half a billion dollars in a single day, an extremely negative signal that further amplified the panic among investors. This outflow of funds is the largest recorded this year, confirming how volatile investor sentiment is during this particularly uncertain period.
The current slump also raises questions about future moves by central banks, especially in view of a possible global recession. Analysts, in fact, believe that further declines could test confidence in Bitcoin as an alternative asset, forcing the crypto sector to thoroughly rethink its resilience strategies.
The situation remains fluid and unpredictable, but one thing now seems clear: the crypto market is not immune to global dynamics. The correlation with international financial sentiment is increasing, which implies that even small changes in the global environment could continue to significantly affect cryptocurrency prices. Therefore, caution and a continued focus on international developments remain crucial in order to best interpret this new market phase.
