Meta and Oakley have just unveiled something that could redefine the very concept of wearables: a pair of AI-connected smart glasses designed to combine sport, style and performance. In an ever-changing market, this collaboration marks AI’s official entry into the world of high-performance wearables, and it does so with a product that promises more than just a futuristic look.

The device combines Oakley ‘s iconic design with Meta‘s AI technology, most notably through Meta AI, a real-time voice assistant. The goal? To create an interactive training companion that not only records data, but also dialogues, advises and adapts in real time to what the user is experiencing. During a run or cycling session, for example, it is possible to ask about calories burned, distance covered or the weather, and receive precise answers without ever having to look at a screen.

At the heart of the project is the perfect fusion of hardware and software. Thanks to the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, these glasses guarantee fluidity, responsiveness and seamless integration with the Meta ecosystem.

The glasses integrate open-ear speakers and microphone arrays that allow users to listen to music, receive calls and interact with Meta AI without isolating themselves from their surroundings. Connectivity is via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and they synchronise data with the Meta AI app on smartphones, which allows users to manage settings, firmware updates and content synchronisation.

The lenses offer options with Oakley’s PRIZM technology, designed to improve contrast and visibility in outdoor environments. They are also compatible with graded types and special coatings, including a limited-edition version with gold inlays and 24 K gold polarised PRIZM lenses, at an introductory price of $499 (while the standard version starts at $399) .

On the software front, built-in AI enables voice commands (‘Hey Meta, take a video’), real-time translation, posture, weather conditions, and live assistance during activities such as golf, surfing, and cycling. All manageable hands-free, thanks to the AR1 chip’s ability to process speech and vision patterns directly on the device .

The new Oakley Meta HSTNs are bookable from 11 July 2025, in the US, Europe and other key markets, and represent the next level in AI-powered sports wearables.

Meta aims to sell 10 million smart glasses per year by 2026, cementing its partnership with EssilorLuxottica after the two million Ray-Ban Meta already sold .
A mix of top-class hardware, solid autonomy, local AI and sporty design that challenges the concept of wearables: glasses that combine performance, autonomy and intelligence always at your fingertips.
