Hyperliquid is growing, driven by ETFs and global interest from major investors

Hyperliquid is winning over global firms and catching Trump’s attention, amid new ETFs and potential scenarios in the United States.

In recent weeks, the cryptocurrency sector has seen a new player emerge with great force, attracting the attention of both institutional investors and the authorities. Hyperliquid, a DeFi platform that was considered a niche venture just a few months ago, has now secured a prominent place in the portfolios of global asset managers. According to Bloomberg, firms such as UBS, Jane Street and Brazil’s Wealth High Governance Asset Management have collectively invested around $75 million in ETFs linked to Hyperliquid, with Wealth High Governance alone holding $24 million in 21Shares’ HYPE fund. This figure marks a significant handover from small-scale speculators to professional players in the financial sector.

The growing interest in Hyperliquid cannot be separated from the current market turning point, fuelled by rapidly expanding demand for regulated products and renewed confidence in ‘solid’ assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. The inflow of capital into the new DeFi ETFs reflects a greater willingness among institutional investors to gain exposure to the crypto world, often using regulated vehicles that offer greater safeguards than decentralised platforms. At the same time, the major cryptocurrencies continue to act as a barometer: their price movements influence investors’ strategies even in products such as HYPE, creating an increasingly close correlation between ecosystems.

There has been no shortage of reactions from industry insiders: traditional commentators emphasise that the presence of players such as UBS and Jane Street is a sign of maturity for the entire sector. At the same time, the crypto world is watching with interest, but also with caution, the growing regulatory pressure that could accompany the entry of new giants. Even high-profile figures such as President Trump have recently stated their intention to facilitate Hyperliquid’s entry into the United States, signalling that the issue has now made its way onto the highest political and institutional agenda. Such statements inevitably fuel speculation about the pace at which regulations will adapt and the real prospects for competing on a global scale.

For the market and for those who follow the sector closely, the simultaneous involvement of long-established names from the worlds of finance and politics creates both new opportunities and unprecedented risks. The dynamics of DeFi ETFs could mark a turning point for the mainstream adoption of decentralised solutions, but recent history shows that such massive movements of capital can also increase volatility. The presence of Bitcoin and Ethereum as benchmarks remains central: if sentiment towards these assets shifts, interest in products such as the HYPE ETF may rapidly change direction, exacerbating any market corrections.

Anyone observing the developments at Hyperliquid and the new players entering the field cannot ignore that the next challenge will lie entirely in global regulation and the ability to combine innovation with transparency. When the rules of the game change and the big names take centre stage, there is a risk that the decentralised dream will have to learn to coexist with the tried-and-tested logic of the financial theatre. In this scenario, only those capable of adapting without betraying their true nature will truly be able to write the next chapter in crypto finance.
