Google I/O 2025 marked a momentous turning point in the integration of artificial intelligence into Google’s products and services. Prominent among the many innovations were Gemini 2.5, Aura and Project Astra, which promise to revolutionise the way we interact with technology and the Web3.
Gemini 2.5: the new AI standard
Gemini 2.5 Pro is Google’s most advanced artificial intelligence model, with improved reasoning capabilities, native audio output and multilingual support. The new ‘Deep Think’ mode allows it to tackle complex tasks such as advanced mathematical problems and coding. In parallel, Gemini 2.5 Flash offers optimised performance for speed and efficiency, becoming the default model for many applications.
Aura: the personal AI assistant
Aura is Google’s new AI assistant, designed to offer a more natural and personalised experience. Integrated with Gemini 2.5, Aura is able to understand context, respond in real time and adapt to the user’s needs, representing a step towards smoother human-computer interaction.
Xreal and Google are in fact collaborating on a new pair of smart glasses using the Android XR platform for mixed reality devices. We don’t know much about the glasses yet, but they will feature Gemini integration and a wide field of view, as well as integrated cameras and microphones.
Not only that, but Google is also collaborating with Samsung, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to create more Android XR smart glasses.

Project Astra: AI that sees and understands
Project Astra is a prototype AI assistant that can respond by voice in real time, analysing the world around it through a camera and microphone. It is the evolution of simple voice interaction: now the AI observes and interprets like a person. Imagine its use in AR devices or decentralised education: you can teach the use of a dApp or blockchain protocol to a user with real-time visual and voice assistance.
AI Mode: the new era of research
Google has introduced ‘AI Mode’ in Search, a mode that allows users to interact with the Gemini chatbot to get more in-depth and personalised answers. This feature represents a significant change in the way users search for and receive information online.
The innovations unveiled at Google I/O 2025, including Gemini 2.5, Aura and Project Astra, mark an important step towards a future where artificial intelligence is deeply integrated into our daily lives and the Web3. These technologies promise to transform the way we interact with the digital world, offering more intelligent, personalised and engaging experiences.
